A mall, a frequently crowded place of people of all ages, is not as safe as we thought. From there, there has been a shooting at the local zoo, group fights at another popular mall, shootings at a McDonald's and on Beale St., places where you may find the most random people. Sad, I know.
I don't know about you, but death has been all around me and its not even the heat of summer.
This Saturday April 24, 2010, there will be a Silent Protest. A silent 1 mile march will begin at Carver High School at 11 a.m.
The walk of silence will be in rememberance of the young lives that were taken due to violence, gangs, and drugs.
Proceeding the march will be a mock funeral. The funeral will stimulate the burial of violence. The significance of this protest is to put an end to violence in the community and to create a since of unity in our families and community. Where one is affected by death, we all are.
Its time to end the senseless, come together and enjoy the summer before the recklessness gets out of hand.
