Celibacy, Why the wait?

Angela Simmons, the daughter of Rev. Run Simmons, has been one of a few young celebrities (others include Jonas Brothers) that is associated with the term celibacy.  Supposedly, Simmons and her Ex boyfriend, skater Terry Kennedy, broke up due to her commitment to "save herself" for marriage.  Her celibacy was one, if not "the" reason they are no longer together.  However, Angela has moved on and is now dating rapper Skillz.  It was recently reported that Angela and Skillz have both vowed to commit to celibacy, TOGETHER. Isnt that sweet?

Celibacy is used to describe a state, in which, one decides to abstain from sexual intercourse.  However, by definition celibacy is a chosen state of being unmarried
and abstaining from sex.  Therefore, by definition one can chose to become celibate at any time, right?  If a person has had intercourse before and now states they are celibate, can you really call them a liar?  Could you respect a partner who proclaims to abstain from sex until marriage?
The reality is......
In today's society it seems even the 90 day rule has become cliche, and one night stands and instant hookups are normal.  How long do you have to abstain to become "officially" celibate?  How long do you have to wait until you loose your celibacy?

The reality is.....
Our President & his family are black.
How does this picture make you feel?
As a Political Science Major, this picture makes me feel like I can conquer the world.  This picture is living proof that anything is possible, if you believe.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again.

If you haven't read President Obama's book "The Audacity of Hope" (penned before he became an official Presidental candidate), then you may not be exactly familiar with his story.  President Obama ran for Congress once before he finally became a member.  Upon loosing the first time, he almost made the decision to give up on the political position.  He faced many adversaries being young and African American.  Even the first Lady, Michelle Obama, thought it fitting at one point for Obama not to run for office again.  Fortunately, Obama decided to give the Congressional run, one last chance, & he won.  Now he is your American President.
Where would he be, where would you be, where would our country be RIGHT NOW, If he would have given up?
Reality is....... He didn't and neither should you EVER!

Reality TV: Take 2

1, 2, 3 & ACTION
It wouldnt be right if Ray J didnt come back and do a number 2 right?  Im sure its like a pre-packaged deal.  If you do one "search for love" reality show on VH-1 you have to do another.  Who would complain about that?  the stuff makes for great tv.  Very entertaining the adventures of the "heart".  These people are sooo good at what they do, I admit I am not one to get over easy, but for the LOVE OF RAY J (#1) really had me going.  How bout you?
Of course, in the back of mind I didnt believe this show was "reality".  A lot of things definitely looked and felt staged.  However, the girls were a little bit more.....whats the word...."decent" than the Flavor of Love Girls, in my opinion.  As a huge fan of Brandy (Ray J's sister), I was rooting for the kid.  When I first saw the commercial for the show I said I wasn't going to watch it.  After sitting and watching my first episode ( because someone else was watching it), I was hooked.  I had to know what would happen next week, week after week, after week.  What can I say? Im human and these "reality" shows are wild.
Anywho, I recently caught wind that Chilli of the famous all girl group TLC is also in talks for having her own "search for love" reality show on VHI 1.  What do you think they will call it?  Flavor of Chilli?  For the Love of Chilli?  Hots for Chilli?  Crazy, Sexy, Chilli?
I have got to hand it to VH1, they can really pick'em.  Who doesnt believe that Chilli has been searching for love every since Dallas Austin & Usher?  If you believe that, you believe in the show right? But, what about when she does "take 2" of her show?  Will you still believe in "Reality" tv?
Reality is....its just entertainment.

Got "One Up" on Lil Wayne?

"If you understand me, then you have 1 up on me, because I don't even understand Me" ~ Lil Wayne

The reality one with good common sense understands Wayne, and that maybe why he has such a huge fan base, including myself. A dose of reality....a lot of people can't distinguish entertainment from real life.

"Ain't nothing cool about carrying a strap, worrying your moms, and burrying your best cat." ~ Jay Z

Lil Wayne (DeWayne Carter) recently plead guilty to attempted possession of firearms. Now your favorite rapper's favorite rapper is facing some serious jail time. Although his trial is not expected to take place until March 2010, that will be here before you know it. Wayne also recently publicly spoke on & recognized the fact that he did have two women pregnant at the same time, and will be the proud father of two additional boys. He already has a daughter & son by two other women. Although these charges stem from an incident that tookplace almost two years ago, I'm sure an incarcerated baby's father is not with the mothers of these new borns planned. With the jail time he is facing, he is planning to miss a lot of baby "first". All actions have consquences, reality is, sometimes you never know how much you really end up paying for your mistakes.

The District Attorney's office that is trying Wayne's case does not offer misdemeanors for the types of charges against him , therefore he will be facing felony charges. Any one who has ever applied for a job, knows felonies are not a good look.

What was Wayne and his entourage smoking/thinking at the time? (A quarter-pound of marijuana, 41 grams of ecstasy, and an ounce of cocaine to be exact) Maybe someone who understand him knows.

Is the authenticy of rappers & hip hop culture found in a prison term?

I decided to post on this piece in relation to a recent high school visit I had. I encountered a student who proudly boasted and displayed his "Young $ Money" shoulder tattoo to my co-workers & I. I asked him did he aspire to be a rapper, matter of fact, could he even rap? He said yes & he replied that Wayne was the best rapper ever! I'm not saying this young man will end up in prison if Wayne does. I'm simply displaying the power of influence pop culture has on our youth.

I want to encourage all young adults that can, to become a mentor to our youth. It can be "official"( youthvillages, Boys & Girls Club) or "unofficial" ( hanging out with a kid down the street). A lot of us are wonderful, driven, motivational, and aspiring individuals that KNOW what we want out of life, we can share that and instill values that will last a lifetime. We UNDERSTAND ourselves, our goals, & our potential....Therefore we have " ONE UP" on a popular icon who doesn't even understand himself but can influence a minor to get a tattoo....something else that lasts a lifetime but is basically useless.

AMBITIOUS: 2nd Feature "RockStar D"

Ambitious second feature belongs to 1/3 of the group Rockstars, Devin Carter, Sr. The Rockstars have a very LARGE fan base inside and outside of their home town of Toledo Ohio. I DEFINITELY BELIEVE that God does NOT make mistakes. Devin is a close friend of mine, and a very talented artist. I have had the pleasure of witnessing the hustle of the Rockstars first hand, and believe great things are in store for them. The members of this group use their status to not only make music, but also do great things in their communities, especially with young children. It is refreshing to see good talent as well as advents of community service. Below is some EXCLUSIVE, NEVER BEFORE SEEN, RAW FOOTAGE of the Rockstars. This was taken from a recording used for an "on the spot" audition for a Record Release Party. I know their fans will enjoy.

Here is a small piece of the story of the Rockstars and Rockstar D.

What makes you Ambitious?

"I think that's starts all the way back from my childhood and the way I grew up. The typical 'ole poverty stricken black American success story. I was the child of a single mother with two younger siblings. My mother was in an abusive relationship and I had to quickly become the man of the house. So its in my blood to be ambitious, especially now that I have a son (4 years old). I feel like I'm not doing this for myself but for him. I am a simple person. If I want it, I get it...NO MATTER WHAT! My motivation will drive me alone.

What made you decide to rap/form a group?

"That started with my childhood as well. Some people don't know I started rapping when I was 10yrs old (1997). My mom moved me and my siblings to Jacksonville, Florida when i was 10.. I didn't want to go from the beginning, I had to leave all my friends and family. I didn't know anybody in Florida, so it was totally new to me. But long story short, we were homeless in I'd say about 6months after we moved. Just alot of Unfortunate things happened and we're 1000 miles from home, and being young, a kid nobody wanted to really hear how I felt or at least I didn't think they did. So I started rapping to originally express how I felt, and what was going on around me. Plus my Uncle (my moms brother) had a group at the time back in Toledo Ohio..(my home town) and to me they were the BEST thing I had ever I don't know if it was because he was my actual uncle and could rap or if it was really good music and they had so much respect around town. We eventually ended up moving back to Toledo like Fall of 98, and I met Ekaine (one of the members in my current group the Rockstars) we started a group called "Verbal Assualt" with me, my younger brother, my cousin Rick P. and E Kaine. We did lil shows and everything basically tagging along with my Uncle and his group and soon enough we were these young kids rapping about REAL LIFE shit and it sounded good. There came the respect, but unfortunate things happened to that group. My cuzzin getting locked up, my brother losing interest, and we met Chief (3rd member of the group RockStar) down the line and it just clicked. Before u knew it we had an whole album in like a month, no writing just all feelings, emotions, and doing what we wanted to do. All of our personal characters are a reflection of our music."

What is your next goal? What does the future have in store for you?

"Well Music is my 1st Love! But over the recent year or so I've actually been losing the motivation and commitment to it. Maybe because my Personal Life has No Real problems anymore. Music was always my savior always something I could look to when Times got hard, it was my own personal Drug.. I was addicted.. And Now Its like I still Love to Get High!,.. But I'm not Addict anymore.. My Group Dropped an Album Regionally (Midwest) it did Very well.. and has been arguably considered one of the BEST Albums Ever released.. Me... D.Hustle aka RockStar D.. Chiefalone or (Chief for short).. and E-Kaine.. But I've actually been on the other side of music, trying to get my own Record Label Off the Ground. (Lotta Money Records)Me and Ekaine formed this label about a year ago with him as the front artist on more of an Solo thing. I've been handling MOST of the Business side of it, and I have to say its Going REAL well. On the Music part as far as myself, RockStar 3 is currently in the works (yea we skipped long story). I Just recently finished an Album/mixtape with Chief of my group called "Rude and Rich", that will be released this Winter. That's about it, just trying to make it. I've been doing this for 12 years and I'm not stopping EVER!.. This is What I Do.. Its My Life.." -RockStar D

Bet you didn't notice they performed with remotes and not mics ; )
